Ruby Red: Turkey is ranked 8th in world’s grapefruit production. Our country has performed increasingly volumes of grapefruit exportation with the last ten years, which varies by years. Our country exports around 80% of its production. Star Ruby, Ruby Red, Marsh Seedless and Rio Red are among the types exported mainly.

Star Ruby: Cultivated in Western Mediterranean Region of Turkey and rapidly becoming widespread. It is one of the most exported types for fresh consumption. This type has the darkest colour among other types of grapefruits. Both inside and outside of this fruit with rounded shape and slightly flattened are quite red in colour. The rind of the fruit, which is bright, smooth and thin, can be peeled with ease. Its acid content is considerably lower than other grapefruit types (1.49%), very succulent (43.67%) and tasty. It is almost seedless.

Rio Red: Rio Red is the recently developed coloured type of grapefruit. The colour of the fruit flesh is five times darker than Ruby and the fruit juice content is twice Red Ruby and as crispy as Star Ruby. It has very few seeds. Its rind is very hard to peel. It is an appropriate type for the ones who prefer tardy and coloured grapefruit. The sugar content is 9.4%, acid content is 1.22% and sugar/acid ratio is 7.7.

White Grapefruit: It is one of the oldest grapefruit types in Turkey (cultivation area: Western Mediterranean Region). The rind of this fruit, which is slightly flattened, rounded and medium-sized, is yellow, smooth, bright and thin. The fruit flesh is light yellow, crispy and succulent. It is perfect in terms of fruit juice (juice amount is 38.61%) and segments thereof. It has few seeds (2-3). The fruits of this type, which is medium-tardy, can stay on trees for a long time. It is suitable for warehousing and transportation.
